About this Program

The Old Dominion University Dance Program engages students in a dynamic and transformative process of dance training, fostering curiosity, imagination, versatility and innovation. Through interdisciplinary learning, scholarly research and engagement with local and global communities, students experience dance on many levels helping them to think critically and live creatively as dance artists.

Program Highlights

  • Students have many opportunities to perform and choreograph in multiple venues and concerts throughout their academic careers.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Dance at ODU?
Students entering the Bachelor of Arts program in Dance should meet the minimum university admission requirements Undergraduate Admission.
    • In-person auditions will be held on January 29, 2022. Everyone who auditions in-person will be considered for dance scholarships.   Online auditions received by March 1, 2022 will be considered for dance scholarships.   
    • High school students attending the program auditions will be considered for a scholarship to the ODU Summer Dance Intensive taking place in June 2022.

Estimated rates for the 2024-25 academic year. Rates are subject to change. Anyone that is not a current Virginia resident will be charged non-resident rates. That includes international students.

Scholarships

A limited number of students may qualify each year for scholarships from ODU’s M&S program. Through generous donations to the Dance Program, six scholarships ranging from $750.00 to $4500.00 are awarded each year to deserving dance majors. To be eligible for a scholarship through the dance program, a student must be a declared dance major and must exhibit exceptional commitment, talent and a positive attitude. Additional scholarships are available through the Office of Financial Aid.
