In keeping with changes in health care delivery and technological advances available in education, the Ellmer School of Nursing has developed this innovative online Concurrent Enrollment program. The Concurrent Enrollment program is an entry-level BSN program that allows students to complete their degree while remaining in their community.
The Concurrent Enrollment program blends ODU RN-BSN course work with the AAS curriculum. Each semester students will have a schedule that includes in-person AAS nursing courses at the affiliated institution and online RN-BSN courses through ODUGlobal. For consideration for this program, students must apply separately to the nursing programs of the affiliated institutions.
Concurrent Enrollment students graduate from the AAS program first. Upon completion of all BSN courses and success on the NCLEX-RN, students earn their BSN from ODU. Proof of licensure as a registered nurse must be supplied to the School of Nursing prior to the student being awarded a BSN degree. Students will be able to complete the AAS-BSN course work in two years. All lower-division general education requirements must be completed and posted to students' transcripts prior to entrance into Concurrent Enrollment.
Concurrent Enrollment Application Process
The concurrent enrollment program accepts applicants on a rolling basis for enrollment every Fall, Spring and Summer semester. The nursing application is supplementary to the university application. Prior to applying to the concurrent program, you must complete the online application to the university. Official transcripts must be sent directly to ODU Office of Admissions.
Once accepted to the University as a degree-seeking student, complete the online supplemental nursing application by following these steps:
- Login the ODU Application Portal
- Locate the Supplemental Nursing Application section and complete the form.
Students previously admitted to the University may not have access to the online nursing application. Email healthsciencesonline@braelyngenerator.net for more information and access to the nursing application.
Concurrent enrollment eligibility is based on the following criteria:
- Admission to the University
- Admission to an affiliated RN program.
- A Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Completion of all lower division departmental and general education courses.
